August - Rolling Stones 1966 Asbury Park [ Back to Gallery ]

Remember how great the summer was in 1966? Where your favorite amusement park not only had the fun rides, great food and romantic evenings with your date, but also booked some of the best music acts ever to record music. Such is the case with this poster for probably the most famous amusement park ever to exist - Asbury Park on the shoreline of New Jersey, which also happens to be the home stomping ground of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band!

What makes this poster very special is not only the great colors and composition produced by Murray Posters, Inc. of New York, but rather the line-up scheduled to appear during the month of July. Starting off with what some would say is the greatest rock and roll band ever to exist - The Rolling Stones, every act on this poster for the month is either in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame or in the case of Eddy Arnold, the County Music Hall of Fame. While I might not have purchased a ticket for Eddy, a lot of people did as he is credited with selling more than 85 million records during his music career.

So for $2.50 to $5.00, you could get a great seat and enjoy the ocean breeze along the Boardwalk shores of New Jersey for a really great summer evening; it just doesn't get much better than that! While the Rolling Stones might be the main event on this poster, playing right before the 4th of July weekend, the acts that follow: The Byrds, The Beach Boys, Ray Charles and yes - even Eddy Arnold were memories not to be forgotten. A really great addition to the Vintage Concert Posters Collection!
